Communication Details for the
DESITE BIM cloud license server

rev. 2021-03-09

thinkproject DESITE BIM applications use a Revenera licensing system (from version 2.6.0 onwards).
When using either the "Concurrent User" or "Named User" model, you have to make sure that communication with the cloud license server is possible. In restrictive network environments, this may require you to define firewall exceptions etc.
With the "Named User" model, the license server must be contacted once for activation. With the "Concurrent User" model, the license server has to be contacted on every single start of the application.

  1. Ports
  2. DESITE communicates with the cloud license server through a HTTPS based web service. This requires Port 443 to be open.

  3. Servers / Enpoints

  4. Revenera's European cloud license servers are hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

At any point in time, FNO-Cloud (EU) might be trying to reach any of 3 public Availability Zones (AZs) hosted by Amazon (and noted below via nslookup).

Here is Amazon's documentation listing the Public IP range for a given region, which might help in terms of whitelisting.

The region used by Revenera cloud services is eu-west-1.

  5. Network Proxy
  6. DESITE will, by default, use the system proxy settings. Since version 2.6.4, you can also use manual settings. You can access them by showing the "Extended Options" in the license dialog and then clicking "Proxy Settings."

Apart from the default setting, which is using the global Windows configuration, you can also explicitly forbid the use of a proxy, or explicitly configure a proxy, which can optionally include credentials in case your proxy requires authentication.
